Mössbauer measurements on antiferromagnetic FeRh

March 1997 meeting of the APS

Mössbauer spectra of annealed samples of antiferromagnetic FeRh at the stoichiometric composition and at and below room temperature exhibit narrow lines indicating excellent atomic ordering. The hyperfiene field decreases by about 10% upon heating from 30 K to 295 K. The Debye temperature determined from the temperature dependence of the absorption is 330 K.

Mössbauer measurements were also recently been made on FeRh samples having 44-48% Rh. These Fe-rich alloys are ferromagnetic at room temperature. Spectra and additional information about the ferromagnetic alloys is here.
